Teacher Conference Attendance Requirements.
CCA Requirements.
Regardless of exam level passed, to remain a member in good standing and retain eligibility to present candidates for CCA exams, teachers are required to attend a minimum
of one refresher every two years. Refreshers may include those organized by local committees, or the CCA summer program.
Refreshers offered locally by the ECC:
-- A half-day refresher every September which includes any syllabus updates and an ECC General Meeting for Members
-- Two 2-day intensives (fall conference and spring conference). These include an ECC General Meeting as well as syllabus classes.
ECC Expectations.
Teachers are welcome to observe some student classes, but are expected to attend primarily teachers' classes in order to stay current with the CCA syllabus and to meet the CCA's refresher requirement for CCA member-in-good-standing status.
Teacher Local Conference Payment Requirements.
The following policies were formally re-affirmed and/or adopted by the ECC Board in August 2010:

ECC members at the CCA Permanent Examiner Level and 50-year Members do not pay for the conferences, but are asked to register so that we can plan adequately.

ECC Board Members (elected and appointed) pay half-price
for local conferences and must adhere to all conference registration deadlines. All ECC Board Members are expected to be on site, working in some capacity, at each conference. [Clarifying note: This applies to
all ECC Board Members, regardless of duties.]

Conference Registration Awards:
Teachers sending 10 students receive 50% off their next conference; teachers sending 20 students receive their next conference free. Eligible teachers must adhere to all conference registration deadlines, and receive discount codes to enter for use in online registration.
All other attendees are required to pay the advertised conference rates and adhere to all conference registration deadlines. No exceptions. Note that volunteering to help in some capacity does not confer a discount rate or tuition waiver.
Teacher Members as Conference Faculty.
-- ECC members who are CCA examiners are paid for classes they teach at ECC local conferences at the CCA examiner rate. Room & board,and travel costs are not reimbursed.
- Other ECC members teaching classes at ECC conferences are paid at the rate of $50/hour. Room & board, and travel costs are not reimbursed.
Teacher Members as Conference Volunteers.
The following policies were formally re-affirmed and/or adopted by the ECC Board in August 2010:
To ensure that our conferences run smoothly for our students, their parents, our faculty and accompanists, and teacher-registrants, a lot of help is needed -- before the conference and on-site on conference days.
To avoid conflicts of interest, confusion, hurt feelings, etc., as of August 2010 the policies are standardized as follows:
All ECC Board Members are required to serve in some capacity on-site, and in recognition of their year-round service to the committee they pay half of the regular conference fee. No ECC Board Members get a "free ride," regardless of responsibilities and/or duties. Even the Conference Principal pays.
In addition, other ECC members are always needed to help out throughout the day as well. However, if everyone who helped in some way received a tuition break we would have very few teachers paying for the conference at all and tuition for our students and our teachers would need to be raised significantly.... which would probably result in a reduction in attendance, etc. EVERYONE's help is GREATLY needed, and GREATLY appreciated, but at this time no tuition-break "favors" are dispensed. That said, there are from time to time extreme circumstances, in which case the Conference Principal should be contacted directly, well ahead of the conference dates, regarding need.
