GENERAL INFORMATION

Where:   Dance Studios at the University of Maryland's Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center [Sorry, no Zoom options]

Dates:     Student Workshop on Saturday, March 23 & Sunday, March 24 from 9:00-4:15

                Teacher Refresher on Sunday, March 24.   9:00-4:15 Syllabus Refresher classes and General Membership Meeting after lunch.

 

Covid Protocols:  Masks recommended.   Tested positive for Covid-19, have possible symptoms, or been recently exposed? - Stay home, until your full quarantine is done.   Thank you for helping to keep everyone healthy. 


Cost:   Discounted Early Registration Rate (through Saturday, March 2)

One day:    $115  / Both days: $145

Early registration is strongly encouraged, since classes tend to fill quickly.

Full Price Registration Rate (Final deadline, Saturday, March 16)

One day:    $135 / Both days: $165

Last-minute Registration is seldom available for students.  One day: $155  / Both days: $175

ABOUT THE STUDENT WORKSHOP:  Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24

Students may register for either one day or both days.

Teacher observers permitted on Saturday only.  No parent observers.

Four student levels, for those working well in:  Grade 1 (Saturday only) / Grades 2&3 / Grades 4&5 / Major Syllabus

Arrival:   NO ENTRY before 8:35.  Parents may choose to take advantage of our morning drop-off service. ECC conference volunteers will be present at the round-about entry circle between 8:35-8:55 to escort the students inside, where they will pick up their name badges and enter the main studio for a brief student orientation that begins promptly at 8:55.   Download Directions/Finding us and/or see Directions page.

Class Schedule:  8:55-9:00 a.m. brief orientation and welcome to students and faculty.  Then, two 1-1/2 hour long classes in the morning; Lunch 12:15-1:00; two 1-1/2 hour long classes in the afternoon. Detailed full schedule will be provided on site.

Departure and Pick-Up: Parents may meet students inside and peruse our fundraising table, or plan on pick-up at the same location as morning drop-off. Saturday classes end at 4:15.  Sunday ends with closing ceremonies, from 4:16-4:45.

Lunch:  Registrants bring own lunch and drink.

Required dancewear:  Simple leotard (no criss-cross backs); ballet tights (convertible tights are recommended for possible contemporary or some ethnic dance form classes); ballet slippers (also pointe shoes for upper level students already working on pointe).  Hair in impeccable, tidy ballet style (such as a bun), off the neck and face (no ponytails).  If desired and if you already own them, bring jazz shoes for possible use just in case.  No legwarmers, no shorts, no skirts, etc.

Scholarship Audition Classes for Students. Has the child's ballet teacher recommended participation in a Scholarship Audition Class?   Visit the Student Scholarships page for more information, and to register additionally and pay the $20 audition fee.


STUDENT CLASSES REGISTRATION

         Parents of Student Registrants - N.B. - Before proceeding to registration below, PLEASE

  • Check with your child's teacher regarding correct class level. Later adjustments will not be possible. 
  • Know the first and last name (and correct spelling) of your child's ballet teacher.  Thank you!
  • Remember that you are registering your child, not yourself.  In order for your child's name to appear on his/her name badge at the conference, the name you type in the initial "Name" field MUST be your child's name, NOT yours Thank you.        

ABOUT THE TEACHER REFRESHER:  Sunday, March 24

Teachers may register for one or both days. 

       Saturday - Teachers may observe or attend student classes on Saturday only. (No refresher classes on Saturday.) 

       Sunday - Refresher classes only. No observation of student classes permitted on Sunday.  Annual Spring General Meeting for

                         Member Teachers will be after lunch, starting at 1:00.

Lunch.  All registrants bring own lunch and drink.

Saturday Schedule for observation of student classes will be available on site.

Sunday Schedule.  Refresher classes (required for maintaining CCA credentials): 9:00-10:30 Gr 1&2, 10:45-12:15 Gr 3&4. Lunch 12:15-1:00. Meeting 1:00-2:30.  Refresher class 2:45-4:15, progression from Elem to Inter.
